Significant wind reduction today. Still blue skies. Brilliant lichen colors.

A strong north wind is whipping through. Whitecaps on the river. Leaves ripping from the trees.

All Hail

Brief hail with swirling winds. Leaves were flying every which way. Then the storm moved on.

Paperwhite

Stuffed to the gills and on tryptophan overload. Beautiful day. The paperwhites gleamed in the moonlight.

Leaf Subsides to Leaf

Ginkgos look great from spring to fall. The leaves are like butterflies. Time to make pies.

Mapley Goodness

The maple and ginkgo leaves in particular were just glowing in the sun this afternoon. Most of the trees are still hanging on to their leaves. I could get used to this.

Mum's the Word

The early darkness is getting to me again. Still seeking out bright and rich colors. Found some in the garden.

Green Peace

The sunset this evening was grand. I only saw it in the rear view mirror. No picture chances.

Pretty Puddle

There are just a few traces of yesterday's storm. Crisp, clean, air. And, a few lingering puddles.

Above the Treetops

The rain came and went leaving a clear evening. The crescent moon was low above the treetops. A few stars peppered the sky.

Standout

A wild storm is forecast for tomorrow so I did as much local leaf peeping as possible in case the trees are denuded. It's been a standout year. This was my favorite of the day.

Indoor Green

Indeed, there was rain last night. The north wind came in and cleared everything out this morning. The night sky is clear and cold.

Subtle Sunset

I finally had to turn the heater on this morning. Clouds started rolling in late this afternoon. I wonder if we'll see any rain tonight?

Iridescence

It was frosty this morning. The shimmer of rime on the turning oak leaves caught my eye. I can't get enough of these rich colors.

Harvest Gold

A trifle warmer today. I noticed that during the minuscule amount of time I spent outside. I need a break from my weekend.

Gold Stars for You

Clear and cool with a hint of wood smoke on the breeze. I was outside briefly to enjoy same. Now hunkered down and working away.

We took a break to tear out the remainder of the summer garden. Winter veggies await planting. Then it was back to working on a seemingly endless project.

Every gray day makes me long for saturated colors. I found some. This staves off the necessity of hibernation.

The older the leaf, the darker the green. Rain chances creeping in. A welcome break tomorrow.

High clouds all day. No rain. Dark too early.

More scenes from the nursery which we visited again today. Fortunately, there was only one yellow jacket in residence. It seemed thirsty.

More porch light photography after working all day. Looked like it was a beautiful day. Wish I could have been outside.

Fire Lines

I'm digging these autumn sunsets. I want to wrap myself in the colors. The whole day was overcast and gloomy but the closing act made up for it.

Color Commentary

Trees have kept their leaves longer this year, I think. Gives us a chance to enjoy the color. And delays the raking.

Abutilon

A hummingbird zipped from behind the flowers as I approached. We startled each other. Continued perfect weather.

Cactopus

A swift jaunt outside then back to the grind. Trying to get some sunlight into a work day bookended by darkness. A great pick-me-up.

And Sixpence

Intellectually, I was aware it would dark before I left work. Practically, I was unprepared and took no pictures during daylight hours. The moon is full.

Autumn on the River

Used my extra hour for an extra long walk. Egrets and fall foliage are hard to beat. Excellent weather too.
